Do you support domestic abuse survivors?
FLOWS is an independent, legal support service, designed to help protect women against domestic abuse, anywhere in England. Our aim is to ensure women get the best possible legal support, at a time when they need it most.
If you are part of a frontline agency (e.g. in the advice sector) that comes into contact with domestic abuse survivors, we can help you to support each individual, from considering the options, to successful court proceedings where appropriate.
Why FLOWS?
Support you can trust from the RCJ family team
Our solicitors and legal advisers from the RCJ Advice family team provide phone and email consultancy to help you – and/or your service user – to understand the legal and practical options open to them.
- You can call us Monday – Friday on 0203 745 7707 or leave a message out of hours option
- You can email us at [email protected]
Working in partnership with Rights of Women, FLOWS can connect your service users with a network of trusted advisers. This includes experienced solicitors and law clinics, Citizen Advice services, frontline professionals in women’s refuges, women’s aid organisations, and organisations that provide safe environments for domestic abuse survivors.
Helping women survivors to access expert legal advice
At the heart of FLOWS, is an award winning online tool called CourtNav. This system helps survivors of domestic abuse to apply for a non-molestation and/or occupation orders (injunction) to get legal protection.
CourtNav provides easy to understand questions, including those that can quickly establish if a survivor is likely to be eligible for legal aid.
If she is, she will be offered the choice of up to five solicitors from our network. One will contact her, using the information from CourtNav as a starting point to manage her case.
If the woman is ineligible for legal aid, or chooses not to use it, the FLOWS team can provide continuing support to help her make the application.
Get a CourtNav account for your organisation
As a woman’s organisation, you can set up a CourtNav account that will enable you to log-in and guide your service users through the process online. Of course we are available, on the phone or by email, should you get stuck.
Appear on our searchable map
Once you open a CourtNav account, you can also opt to be featured on our searchable map, so that women experiencing domestic abuse in your area will be able to find you.
Free widgets and resources for your organisation
We have a ‘widget’ that you can embed in your website, which will allow people to search the FLOWS local service map from your website. And we can provide posters and online promotional resources for you to use.
Join the conversation on the FLOWS discussion forum
Rights of Women, our partner in FLOWS, has launched an online Family law discussion forum where you can confidentially share issues and get advice around some of the legal issues your service users may be experiencing.
