About us

FLOWS (Finding Legal Options for Women Survivors) is an independent legal support service, designed to help protect women against domestic abuse, anywhere in England and Wales.

We support women to protect themselves from violence, gain court orders, access legal aid and navigate court processes. We ensure each woman gets the best possible legal support, at a time when they need it most.

Our network of trusted domestic abuse experts includes:

  • Experienced solicitors and law clinics
  • Citizen Advice services
  • Front line professionals in women’s refuges
  • Women’s aid organisations
  • Organisations that provide safe environments for domestic abuse survivors.

The service is delivered by Royal Courts of Justice Advice in partnership with charity Rights of Women in response to a need identified by us and partner organisations for quality legal provision for women survivors.

The first two years of the FLOWS’ project (2018-2020) were funded by a grant from the Tampon Tax Fund, administered by the Department for Digital, Culture, Media and Sport. The project was developed further by funding from the Legal Education Foundation as well as an award from the NESTA Legal Access Challenge. From 2020 to 2024 the project has been funded by Ministry of Justice.
